The Aerobie Aeropress

It has the strangest name, looks very cheap, simple and yet it is one of the biggest trends in the coffee maker industry today!

We are talking about the Aerobie Aeropress here. It is an excellent and fun way of making coffee!

How to

When making your coffee, naturally it starts with the correct amount of coffee aswell as the particle size. However, you will have to find these two variables for yourself since everyone has it’s own preferences. Allready barista skills are kicking in.

Now that you have a fresh amount of ground coffee in the Aeropress, you can add the desired amount of hot water. The temperature of the water is advised to be between 90°C and 95°C, this is definitely also a variable to experiment with. Now stirr the coffee a little and wait for a certain time, again based on your preferences. The advised waiting time is 4 minutes.

After you have done all of the above, you put your Aerobie Aeropress on top of your coffee mug and push the coffee trough the filter. The time and pressure applied here will have a direct consequence on the taste of the resulting coffee.

Now take your time and enjoy the amazing cup of coffee!

The Aerobie Aeropress is available from Amazon for $25.95 USD.

Nespresso Caffe Inn

Nespresso Caffe Inn

This Nespresso machine by the French designer Charles Teyssier is a simple, yet very complicated looking coffee machine. At the top we find the input for the Nespresso cups, at the left side we can see a water tank with a small plexi in to see the water level and at the right side we can chose wether we want a small coffee or a larger one. (Espresso / Lungo)

This concept seems to remind me of both the espresso machine design from Kamil Kurka and the new Dolce Gusto that has been launched recently by Nescafé.

The BMW Espresso Maker

BMW presents to you “Sirena”, based on a 600 $ Saeco machine. It has a 15 bar pump driven stainless steel boiler. It has a dual brew spout which is programmable and two wand’s to switch quickly from frothing to brewing or the other way around. It was designed by the award winning BMW Designworks for Starbucks. An interesting future is the auto-off, which shuts down your machine after being idle for 90 minutes.

Who invented the espresso machine?

La Pavoni EspressThe espresso machine was invented in 1901 by a man called Lugia Bezzer. He would like his employees to have a shorter coffee break so he created a device to make coffee faster. This deviced was supposed to save time by using pressure to brew a concentrated shot of coffee. What they called the machine originally was the “Fast Coffee Machine”. Later in the years, the patent of the “Fast Coffee Machine” was sold to Desidero Pavoni in 1905. What he did, is use a piston pump to push water trough a tube for an even finer espresso product.

Bialetti Mokona

Everyone knows the stove pot coffee makers from Bialetti, but not alot of people seem to know about the espresso machine they have made. This is what the Mokona represents. It is a very nice combination of the stove tops and an espresso machine. The top has the same well-known design and is able to dismount to refill with water. The espresso machine itself can be used for Bialetti capsules, pods and ground coffee. For more info visit Amazon.com.
