- Raw sugar
- Espresso beans
- Irish or Scotch whiskey
- Whipping cream
- Clear glass
Preparation:
What we are going to make is called Irish coffee, so there are two main subjects: Irish/Scotch whiskey and coffee.
Let’s start of with the coffee, this should definitely be espresso since it is the main part of the recepy. But how to define this? Preferably it should have been dark roasted, freshly roasted and ground very fine. Eventually a blend of coffee beans but an origin coffee will do just fine, this is depending on your personal taste.
For our perfect Irish Coffee we use two shots of Espresso, one teaspoon of raw sugar, one shot Irish/Scotch whiskey and 1/8 cup whipping cream. Do keep in mind you should steam your fresh cream before starting to actually make our Irish Coffee. Also your Irish/Scotch whiskey should be steamed.
Last thing todo before we start is to warm up your clear glass, if you have an espresso machine you probably have a place to warmup glasses, otherwise you can heat it up with hot water, don’t forget to clean it after it’s been warmed.
Putting everything together
Take the teaspoon raw sugar and put this at the bottom of your glass, then put the two espresso shots in. Now gently pour in the warm Irish/Scotch whiskey and give it time to float back to the top of your glass.
The hard part is now to slowly put the steamed whipping cream on top without it sinking and/or mixing with the other two layers. This is all up to you and if you do not succeed, you can drink it and try again and again and again
